Pre-K3 & Pre-K4 Curriculum

At St. John Regional School our Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 programs offer a nurturing, faith-filled environment where our youngest learners begin their educational journey. Rooted in Catholic values, our curriculum supports the whole child—spiritually, emotionally, socially, and academically—through age-appropriate, play-based learning experiences.

Faith-Based Learning

Our Catholic identity is woven into every part of the day. Children are introduced to basic prayers, Bible stories, and religious songs. Through simple but meaningful lessons, students learn about:

  • God’s love and creation
  • Jesus as our friend and teacher
  • The importance of kindness, sharing, and forgiveness
  • Respect for self, others, and the world around us

We integrate Catholic Social Teachings by encouraging children to care for one another, serve those in need, and recognize the dignity of all people. Even at a young age, children can begin to understand the values of community, compassion, and justice.

Academic Foundations

We foster a love of learning through hands-on, exploratory activities that develop:

  • Language & Literacy: Letter recognition, phonemic awareness, vocabulary building, and storytelling
  • Math Readiness: Counting, number sense, patterns, sorting, shapes, and simple problem-solving
  • Science Exploration: Nature, seasons, weather, and sensory experiences
  • Fine & Gross Motor Skills: Art projects, cutting, writing practice, outdoor play, and movement activities

Social-Emotional Development

We help children grow in independence, self-regulation, and interpersonal skills by:

  • Modeling and practicing empathy and cooperation
  • Establishing daily routines and transitions
  • Teaching conflict resolution and emotional expression
  • Creating a classroom community where every child is valued and loved

Creative Expression

Art, music, dramatic play, and movement are central to our curriculum, giving children opportunities to express themselves and explore the world around them.

Learning Through Play

Our structured yet flexible schedule allows for center-based play, group activities, and quiet time. Play is the primary way young children learn, and we ensure it is purposeful, joyful, and developmentally appropriate.

Partnering with Parents

We believe parents are the first and most important teachers. Through open communication, family events, and faith celebrations, we work together to support your child’s growth and spiritual formation.
We invite you to be part of this special beginning in your child’s life—a time filled with faith, friendship, discovery, and joy.
